The handles as well as the willowy shoulder strap have not been neglected, they are solid and made of the same cotton. When opening the bag, there is the main compartment where I hands store my mattress (24x71), a towel, a snifter of water and my gown for the activity. There is still unbearable space to store blocks and other personal belongings. Note moreover that there are two pockets with zippers, one inside and one outside the bag. Before, I had to siphon two bags. One for my clothes, material and personal effects and flipside for my carpet. The quality of the material and details of the bag are excellent, I like how the interior of my bag is lined with an orange colored material to match the verisimilitude of my mat. The style is really trendy and all the people I have shown it to were quite impressed. You mention that you are using a Manduka mat, which you virtuously describe as "a larger yoga mat" and "very thick." Indeed, this trademark of mat is much larger than a normal yoga mat; hence, it takes up a lot of space in the bag. Our bag can certainly fit this size of mat, but it will take up increasingly space than a regular yoga mat. Consequently you will have less space for other things if you are using an oversized mat.
