My wonderful husband gave me one for Xmas and I couldn't be increasingly in love with my new mat. Its super sticky like I wanted, my hands and feet stay exactly where I want them to! My only tiny problem with the mat is the pattern of zig zags...makes my vision do funny things however this is remedied easy unbearable by learning to pose with my vision closed. The mat was ready to use when I opened it and there was virtually no smell on the first use! Very highly recommend. I plan to order a few other things form this company, love that they are Canadian and are unconfined to wordplay questions I had as a newbie! Tons of cushion, which is unconfined for me as I have a bad knee and practice regularly to stave an early knee replacement (and considering I LOVE yoga!) My only criticism is my hands tend to slip while holding long poses (downward dog). Maybe there are some gloves that I could use to prevent this? Dusky Leaf Response: Thanks for the positive feedback -- glad to hear you love your new yoga mat. Hands will tend to slip on any yoga mat, expressly once you get warmed up and have some sweat in the palms. There are two things you can do: First, be mindful of your posture in downward dog. People tend to leave their hands and feet too far apart, which leads to gravity stuff exerted yonder from the body. This will rationalization your hands to slip increasingly than they should. You should be focused on bringing hands and feet as tropical together on the yoga mat as possible. This shifts the vector of gravity yonder from the horizontal plane to the vertical. Instead of moving toward the sides, you'll be increasingly grounded considering the gravity is directed downward instead of out to the sides. So proper posture in downward dog can do a unconfined deal to eliminate this sensation. Second, if you have moisture on your hands (even just a little bit), you may wish to use a yoga towel to swizzle the moisture. I wanted a thick mat to cocoon my spin during savasana and waddle n' rolls. I wanted an ecologically responsible mat and to support a Canadian company. Everyone kept telling me Lululemon's The Mat was the best. I tried it and I was a nice mat. But ethically, I just couldn't, and wouldn't, support a visitor with a history of poor upstanding choices. I decided on Dusky Leaf's TPE Eco Yoga Mat considering it is environmentally conscious in it's manufacturing and is recyclable. Dusky Leaf is a Toronto company, 5mm is the thickness I desired, and I liked the closed-cell construction idea. I was worldly-wise to use my mat right out of the bag when it arrived. It had no smell or coating on it. I am experimenting using it with and without a mat towel for my hot yoga Bikram and Baptiste Power Vinyasa practices. It has spanking-new grip and I didn't realize I'd fathom the uneaten length at 5'4". I moreover can't believe how lightweight it is for all it's plushness and uneaten length. Going from a superthin cheapy mat for the last 2.5 years to a 5mm thickness sure makes me wobbly during the standing series. I view it as a unconfined opportunity to strengthen my leg and foot muscles further. Overall, this mat is exactly what I expected and I'm happy with my choice. Only suggestion is that the mat is slippery at first. I know the website does say to wipe the mat a few times but could this be washed-up in manufacturing process? Dusky Leaf Response: Thanks for your review. You may be troublemaking the TPE yoga mat with the PER yoga mat, as we do NOT teach customers to wipe the TPE mat a few times surpassing use. The PER yoga mat has a slick feeling when it is new, and it takes a few weeks to unravel in. The TPE yoga mat does not require a safecracking period.
